About Me
Hi, my name is Hailee Dassow. I am a 6th grade student at St. Frances Cabrini school in West Bend, Wisconsin where I have been attending since k4. I enjoy all my classes and teachers. I like the small school and individual attention I get.
I was nominated by one of my teachers to become a Student Ambassodor with the People to People program. As a student ambassador I have the opportunity to travel to Europe during the summer of 2009. After the nomination process, I had to get 2 recommendations from teachers and one more from another adult. I then passed through to the next phase of being interviewed by two adults from the People to People program. I was nervous, but did my best. In December of 2008 I was accepted to be a student ambassador(view acceptance Letter & certificate).
A student ambassador needs to demonstrate leadership skills, community involvement and the desire to learn about the world. I am very excited and honored to be a part of such a wonderful program. In case you have not heard of People to People, it was started by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. His thought was the people of all ages from all over the world would meet and learn about each other in order to promote peace. He thought people would be better at promoting peace than politicians.
While on this 14 day trip, we will spend time with leaders and parliament officials from England. I am excited to learn about the government in England. We will spend a lot of time visiting historical places and learn why they are significant to the world and the United States.
In France, we will visit the beaches of Normandy and see right where the US troops landed in WWII. Visiting the Louve is something I really look forward to doing. I enjoy art very much. France is another place that has so much history that affected the United States.
